Sunstroke is a common health problem during hot weather. Here are some interesting facts about sunstroke:

1. Sunstroke is medically known as hyperthermia.

2. It is where the persons body makes more heat, and cannot cool down to an adequate level.

3. In the body there are heat regulating mechanisms, which when under intense heat and unable to cool down, the persons temperature will continue to rise.

4. Sunstroke can be life threatening because of the raise in temperature and the body becomes dehydrated.

5. Any temperature above 40 degrees is dangerous.

6. Do not mistake sweating for a sign of sunstroke, perspiration is a normal reaction for the body when put in hot situations.

7. However, when the body stops sweating this is dangerous because it means the person is dehydrated.

8. One of the main causes of sunstroke is that the person is sun burnt.

9. Other main symptoms are: confusion, headache, decreased blood pressure, fainting.

10. The treatment for sunstroke is to lower the persons body temperature, ideally in hospital, but placing them in a cool bath is okay in the short term, but do not leave them.
