Inspiring Short Quotes For Tattoos

Tattoos are all the rage at the moment. Whether or not you agree with them or like them, they are a way for a person to express themselves - although sometimes people do not think before they have a tattoo, which can lead to regrets later on. When they are done for the right reasons, I think they are a good thing. There are of course many different types of tattoos, but one of the most popular is to have a short quote, or text, done usually on the arms, wrist, back or chest areas. When people have tattoo as a quote, they often want something inspiring, or that means something personal to them. These short quotes for tattoos that are listed here, will hopefully give some inspiration, and I've added my little bit as well.

What I like about using a quote for a tattoo is that a quote that someone else has written can have a strong meaning for you, despite it, perhaps, not being what the original writer meant it to mean. You might have a quote as a tattoo on your wrist that to you means keep going, be strong. It's just a disguised way of saying "look I struggle sometimes."

"Make each day your masterpiece."

I really like this quote. In my opinion, and remember it's just my interpretation, it's you can do anything you want to do, let nothing, ever, hold you back. Great works in art etc are usually started off with a simple thing, and turned into something much greater. Be brave and try it for yourself.

"A joyful heart is good medicine"

As with anything, travel light - it's less likely to get damaged that way. Being happy and joyful, and really feeling that way, makes the mind feel good. This quote can be inspiring for those who have been through rough patches, and have "finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel" and are trying to love each day.

" Live in the moment."

Such good advice. So many of us, including myself, live on the mistakes of yesterday. We spend so much of our lives thinking about the past, what we should have done, how we could have had a different outcome, and by the time we realize, our future has already been written for us. Live in the moment, for now, accept mistakes, especially serious ones and act with humility - be sorry, but don't dwell on mistakes and lose your life to them.

" Never give up."

There was a time, not too long ago, when I stood with nothing below me - I was at the bottom, and could only see everything above me. It was a depressing place. I never gave up, and to me it may be a very short quote, but the power it speaks is incredible. If we give up, we are no better than the people, the situations, and problems that got us feeling like that in the first place. Everything in life is a test, so don't give up on it.

" Where there is life, there is hope."

Sometimes there doesn't seem to be a lot of hope, not for ourselves or for the world. Everything you do, goes wrong. My mentality is if you're alive, then there is hope always. I tend to think of the poor people who are in comas etc where there doesn't seem any hope they shall wake, and then they make a recovery so shocking, even to doctors, and it shows that that may have been down, but they certainly weren't out. The same goes for you, there is always hope. It only fades when you die.

" Do it faster. Do it harder. Do it now."

As much as this sounds rude, I can assure you it wasn't intended that way. I guess it means, speed everything up, life is short, if you don't do something now - when are you going to do it? Work yourself harder for things, don't rely on it just being given.

" Don't count the days, make the day count"

I think all of us can be guilty of not making enough of our day. Many of us work and have families, but we always seem to be saying " I'd love to do this", or " I really want to go to such a place"... but they stay as wants and desires because we don't assert ourselves more. Don't waste time counting the days down, or thinking " I'll do that tomorrow" - do it today, live every day as it was your last one.

"Truth fears no questions"

A personal favourite. It is best to lead your life with honesty, not fearing who's going to walk down the road because you told a little porky pie. At the end of the day, an honest heart is a good heart. Honesty does prevail, and you don't want to have to remember all the white lies you've told, just to cover up some lies. Be honest, and life will be honest to you.

I think inspirational quotes make the best tatoos. I don't have one but I have given it a lot of thought. One of these days I will find the right one, then I need to decide where to put it.

LucidWarrior - I totally agree, at least with a quote, some element of thought goes into it.
